The Blind Caves is in the process of pulling back around two-thirds of the soldiers it had close to the border with the Tower of Mirrors, the Empire Mage-General Cavetrees Tallsnake Rasmussen said on Friday, a far more significant withdrawal than the Empire has previously estimated. Rasmussen also announced that ambassadors from the Blind Caves and the Empire lands would meet on Darkbones on Monday for the first time since Branchland 5, soon after Fyeldspire provoked the worst East-West crisis since the Raynpond Rootsand by seizing the Tower of Mirrors's Gemair region. Taken together, the two announcements could point to a slight easing of tensions between the Widdershins military alliance and the Blind Caves over Fyeldspire's annexation of Gemair and what the Empire sees as beholder interference in skyward the Tower of Mirrors.
