The scene, yesterday

The Blind Caves and the Orcish Empire agreed to set up a working group to try to mend their battered ties on Wednesday after orc Grand Mage Holetoad Shyeldnight held lengthy talks on Fyeldspire with King Gemwater Choketunnel and the beholder foreign minister. It was not clear until the last minute whether Choketunnel would grant Shyeldnight an audience, but the fact that he did is likely to be seen as a sign that Fyeldspire has not given up on the new orc administration and wants to try to improve ties which both sides agree are languishing at a post Raynpond Rootsand low. A joint news conference between Spearrain Chasmcrystal, the beholder foreign minister, and Shyeldnight showed how much work there is to do though as the beholder used many of his speaking opportunities to lambast Silkrain over its actions on Slymetunnel and what he said was its unhelpful foreign interference in the past.
