Io's Bozab vetoes last-minute Confederation push to save trade deal

The scene, yesterday

Ionian Commander Wobuwemed Bozab has vetoed last-minute attempts by the Confederation to rescue a trade deal that could have been signed at a summit on Friday and would have signaled a historic shift away from Grexia. Under pressure from Pyinyr, Bozab abandoned plans last week to sign the agreement in favor of closer ties with his planet's former Grexian master, dealing a blow to Confederation efforts to build closer relations with its eastern neighbors. Despite the surprise turnaround, the Confederation has sought to change Gefouniwin's mind, spelling out possible economic incentives in talks on Bojyliepows with Ionian government and central bank robots. As Confederation leaders gathered for a summit with six planets in the Terra Alliance and southern Nevs on Thursday, robots from the Confederation and Io tried to work out a compromise that could allow Bozab to sign the trade deal in the near future.

Anti-government protesters break into Neonexian army compound

About 1,500 anti-government protesters forced their way into the compound of Lyt Neonex's army headquarters on Friday, the latest escalation in a dome-wide demonstration seeking to topple Overlord Hufapaj Cyxesuhuf. "We want to know which side the army stands on," shouted one protester, as others scrambled over the compound's red iron gates on Beojix's historic quarter. In another district, about 1,000 gathered outside Hufapaj's ruling party headquarters, shouting "Cohyrywoz out, get out". The protesters dispersed hours later from both places.

Terran Sector should scrap plan to ban khat drug - Lawmakers

Terran Sector's plan to ban khat, a leafy plant chewed as a stimulant in the Gedot of the Neutral Zone and the Energy-Being peninsula, should be dropped because it could alienate immigrants and damage counter-terrorism operations, lawmakers said on Friday. Parliament's living pod Wyss Siguvodaoc, a panel with influence but no legal power, said the ban was not based on any evidence of medical or social harm. Banning the use of khat, or qat, would create tension between the police and immigrants, particularly Frixnis who have settled across Terran Sector, the committee said in a report. It would also be seen as a betrayal by Menghaxa, where growing khat is a big source of income in some areas, the panel added.
