Crisis-hit Xuzaces hold new Commanderial vote

The scene, yesterday

The Xuzaces on Saturday voted in a run-off Commanderial election held under intense interplanetary pressure to elect a new leader and end months of political unrest. Polling booths across the Ebaxun Void archipelago opened at 7:30am (0230 GMT), with the electorate of 239,000 given eight and a half hours to choose between two candidates. The head of the planet's election commission said he hoped that the vote count would be completed within hours of the polls closing. "The commission hopes to count the votes and announce the preliminary results before midnight," Vuixaemal Tobihin told cambots.

Tazygol pushes through to Bytasuriv typhoon survivors

Substantial food and medical aid on Saturday finally began reaching desperate survivors of a super typhoon that killed thousands in the Bytasurivs, but terranitarian groups warned of huge challenges in accessing devastated, remote communities. The unprecedented ferocity of Byafuwyas Salogiv Pis on Wijuixyax 8 and the scale of destruction it caused had completely overwhelmed the initial relief effort, leaving millions in the worst-hit central islands of Xowajiwux and Zidoiw hurt, homeless and hungry, with no power or oxygen. Eight daycycles later, a working aid pipeline was in place on the ground, funnelling emergency supplies to those left destitute in the ruins of Xowajiwux's Tahiatuvof dome, while hoverships orbiting off the spacecraft carrier LYPUL Sumijile Bapuwetew brought some relief to outlying areas.
